Financial Controller – Maternity Cover

Equifind is partnering with an leading international retail business, looking for a Financial Controller to own month-end close and management accounts, giving leadership the financial visibility they need to make fast, informed decisions.

Reporting into the Head of Finance the role will involve:

• Own the full month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across multiple entities/currencies
\n
• Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis
\n
• Deliver variance analysis against budget/forecast, with clear commentary on drivers and trends
\n
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and ensure robust supporting schedules
\n
• Identify and lead improvements to finance systems and processes, reducing manual work and improving reporting speed and accuracy
\n
• Drive automation of month-end tasks and reporting where possible, working with IT/systems teams as needed
\n
• Document and standardize processes and controls across entities/markets
\n
• Partner with commercial and operations teams to explain performance and flag risks/opportunities
\n
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and year-end audit as needed
\n
• Manage and develop a small finance team responsible for transactional and management accounting
\n

Requirements:

\n
• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
\n
• Proven experience running month-end close and producing management accounts, ideally in retail or a multi-site, multi-currency business
\n
• Experience is managing a large team
\n
• Track record of driving process or systems improvements within a finance function
\n
• Strong Excel skills and hands-on ERP experience
\n
• High attention to detail with the ability to work to tight monthly deadlines
\n
• Clear communicator, comfortable presenting numbers to non-finance stakeholders
\n
