Adapro Talent Partners are delighted to be exclusively partnering with a highly acquisitive, Milton Keynes based multi-site organisation who are looking to recruit a Technical Accountant, on a permanent basis. The Technical Accountant is a newly created position as a result of continued growth and expansion, and they will support the Group Technical Accountant in delivering high-quality statutory reporting and technical accounting across the UK Group. This role will be responsible for preparing statutory financial statements, researching accounting matters, drafting technical accounting papers and accounting policies, and supporting the accounting work associated with acquisitions, restructures and other non-routine transactions. Key Responsibilities will include:Statutory Accounts\n

  • Prepare statutory financial statements under FRS 102 for individual entities and, where appropriate, consolidated groups.
  • \n
  • Prepare supporting schedules, disclosure checklists and statutory accounts working papers.
  • \n
  • Ensure that financial statements comply with applicable accounting standards, Companies Act requirements and UK Group accounting policies.
  • \n
  • Prepare or update significant statutory disclosures, including those relating to leases, financial instruments, provisions, related parties and business combinations.
  • \n
  • Assist with the reconciliation of statutory accounts to underlying accounting records and Group reporting submissions.
  • \n
  • Support the delivery of statutory accounts in accordance with agreed year-end timetables.
  • \n
  • Respond to review points raised by the Group Technical Accountant, Head of Accountingand external auditors.
  • \n
Technical Accounting Research\n
    \n
  • Research accounting matters arising under FRS 102, UK company law and other relevanttechnical guidance.
  • \n
  • Analyse the accounting implications of new standards, amendments and regulatorydevelopments.
  • \n
  • Summarise technical requirements and explain their application to the UK Group'stransactions and circumstances.
  • \n
  • Maintain appropriate supporting references and documentation for technical conclusions.
  • \n
  • Escalate complex, judgemental or uncertain matters to the Group Technical Accountant.
  • \n
  • Develop knowledge of IFRS and HGB where relevant to UK Group and parent company reporting.
  • \n
Technical Accounting Papers/Policies\n
    \n
  • Draft technical accounting papers for review by the Group Technical Accountant.
  • \n
  • Clearly document the relevant facts, applicable accounting requirements, analysis and recommended treatment.
  • \n
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of UK Group accounting policies.
  • \n
  • Update accounting manuals, process notes and technical guidance following changes in accounting standards or UK Group policies.
  • \n
  • Maintain records of accounting judgements, estimates and policy decisions.
  • \n
  • Ensure that technical documentation is complete, accurate and suitable for audit review.
  • \n
Acquisitions & Transactions\n
    \n
  • Support the Group Technical Accountant with acquisitions, disposals, restructures and other corporate transactions.
  • \n
  • Assist with gathering and analysing financial, contractual and operational information.
  • \n
  • Prepare supporting calculations and schedules for purchase price allocations, goodwill, intangible assets, leases and deferred consideration.
  • \n
  • Assist with the preparation of acquisition accounting papers and financial statement disclosures.
  • \n
  • Work with finance colleagues and external advisers to obtain information required to support accounting conclusions.
  • \n
  • Support post-acquisition accounting and the integration of acquired entities into Group reporting processes.
  • \n
Audit Support\n
    \n
  • Prepare supporting documentation for external audit.
  • \n
  • Respond to routine audit queries and coordinate the provision of supporting evidence.
  • \n
  • Assist the Group Technical Accountant with complex audit matters.
  • \n
  • Maintain clear records of audit queries, responses and outstanding actions.
  • \n
  • Ensure that agreed audit adjustments and disclosure amendments are accurately reflected in the statutory accounts.
  • \n
  • Build effective and professional working relationships with external auditors.
  • \n
Year-End & Group Reporting\n
    \n
  • Support the year-end reporting processes, both UK Group and parent company reporting.
  • \n
  • Prepare technical schedules, reconciliations and disclosure information.
  • \n
  • Assist with the review of entity reporting submissions for compliance with Group accounting policies.
  • \n
  • Support the preparation of information requested by the parent company.
  • \n
  • Assist with the analysis and reconciliation of differences between UK statutory reporting and Group reporting requirements.
  • \n
  • Work with entity finance teams to resolve reporting and accounting issues.
  • \n
Processes & Controls\n
    \n
  • Assist with improving statutory reporting processes and accounting documentation.
  • \n
  • Maintain templates, disclosure checklists and standard technical-paper formats.
  • \n
  • Support the development and documentation of financial reporting controls.
  • \n
  • Identify inconsistencies or weaknesses in accounting records and raise them with the Group Technical Accountant.
  • \n
  • Use systems and technology to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate and well-organised electronic records.
  • \n
The role will likely suit a Newly Qualified ACA or ACCA Accountant who has trained in Practice, and is looking first a first move into Industry, although a QBE with demonstrable technical accounting experience would be considered. Strong understanding of FRS102 as well as excellent statutory reporting experience is required for this role. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate a strong interest in technical accounting and statutory reporting, and possess the ability to research accounting requirements and apply them to practical situations. Our Client is offering a Salary of £50,000 - £55,000 + Benefits.
