Senior QA Automation Engineer | Contract | Newcastle

£500–£550 per day | Outside IR35 | ASAP Start | Initial 3 Months

We're supporting a client delivering a large-scale digital platform and are seeking an experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer to join an Agile delivery team.

This is a hands-on role focused on building and maintaining automated test frameworks, validating complex user journeys, and driving quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Skills Required

\n
• Strong automation experience with Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript
\n
• Proven background as a QA Automation Engineer / SDET
\n
• API testing experience (REST, request/response validation, payload assertions)
\n
• Experience testing modern web applications, including multi-step user journeys
\n
• Automation framework design and maintenance (POM, reusable utilities, fixtures)
\n
• Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD and test management tooling
\n
• Solid understanding of Agile delivery and software testing best practices
\n
• Experience with cross-browser, accessibility, and non-functional testing
\n

Nice to Have

\n
• Next.js, React or .NET exposure
\n
• Experience with event-driven architectures and workflow-based systems
\n
• AI-assisted development/testing tools
\n
• Testing complex, rules-driven or form-heavy applications
\n
