Quality Engineer
Job Description
Our engineering clients, based in Farnborough have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join their growing team.
\nProduction Quality Assurance:
\nMonitor and improve standards of workmanship across sheet metal fabrication and electronics assembly operations.
\nSupport and train production staff in quality requirements, visual standards, and correct handling methods.
\nConduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) and maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with customer and internal requirements.
\nIdentify, analyse and reduce rework through investigation and implementation of effective corrective actions using quality tools (5 Why, 8D, Ishikawa).
\nEnsure inspection stages are effective and consistent with drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
\nCustomer Quality Assurance:
\nInvestigate customer complaints and non-conformances, implementing timely and robust corrective actions.
\nHost customer visits, audits, and inspections, acting as the primary quality representative.
\nRaise and manage customer concessions and ensure traceability of records.
\nLiaise with customers to clarify and agree product quality standards and acceptance criteria.
\nSupport RMA analysis and reporting.
\nSupplier Quality Assurance:
\nSupport Purchasing in the assessment, approval, and ongoing evaluation of key suppliers. Conduct supplier audits and support the resolution of supplier non-conformances.
\nAnalyse supplier performance data and lead improvement initiatives in collaboration with the supply base.
\nInternal Auditing and Compliance:
\nPlan and carry out internal audits against ISO 9001 and internal processes.
\nReport audit findings, agree corrective actions, and verify closure of actions to maintain compliance
\nMaintain audit records and support third-party audit readiness Business Management System:
\nMaintain and develop SOPs, work instructions, forms, and quality records to ensure compliance with ISO 9001.
\nSupport continuous improvement of the Business Management System (BMS) and ensure changes are communicated effectively
\nAssist in document control and revision management in line with process changes and audit findings.
\nRequired skills & experience:
\nMinimum 3 years in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
\nExperience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
\nInspection of sheet metalwork and machined parts against engineering drawings.
\nProcessing non-conformances and customer complaints.
\nExperience hosting customer and supplier audits.
\nWorking hours: 38 hours per week, Mon-Thurs 08:00-16:45, Fri 08:00-13:00
