Job Description

Reed Accountancy are delighted to be supporting a well-established organisation in their search for an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive business offering flexible working arrangements, including one day per week in the office, flexible start and finish times, and half-day Fridays.

Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 (depending on experience)Hours: 37.5Contract: 12-month fixed term contractLocation: Edinburgh (1 day a week)Reporting to: Finance Manager

Key Responsibilities

    \n
  • Prepare and process sales invoices using Excel and Sage 200.
  • \n
  • Manage credit control activities and maintain accurate customer accounts.
  • \n
  • Process purchase invoices and coordinate invoice approvals.
  • \n
  • Prepare supplier payment runs and ensure timely payments.
  • \n
  • Complete weekly bank downloads and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • \n
  • Process deposits and maintain banking records, mandates, and authorised signatory information.
  • \n
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns through Making Tax Digital (MTD).
  • \n
  • Reconcile recharge nominal codes and investigate any variances.
  • \n
  • Update and maintain financial control sheets and records.
  • \n
  • Assist with loan documentation and other finance-related administration.
  • \n
  • Provide general administrative support and assist with ad hoc requests across the finance function.
  • \n

Candidate Profile

\n
    \n
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance role.
  • \n
  • Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
  • \n
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • \n
  • Proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • \n
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, collaborative approach.
