Technical Sales Engineer
Job Description
A long-established and highly respected engineering services provider is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to support the ongoing growth and operational delivery of its Bishop Stortford service centre.
\nThey are looking for someone to support the next phase of their company growth strategy in and the surrounding areas. You will work closely with the branch management team to identify and develop new opportunities, build strong relationships, and oversee projects from start to finish.
\nThis is a pivotal, client-facing role that blends technical knowledge, commercial focus, and project management expertise to support the successful delivery of installation, service, and maintenance solutions to a diverse client base.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\nBusiness Development & Client Relationships

- Proactively engage and build relationships with new and existing clients \n
- Promote a full range of services: installations, PPM contracts, and service work \n
- Identify and convert new business opportunities and follow up leads \n
- Conduct site visits, produce quotes, and maintain a strong sales pipeline \n
Technical Design & Quoting
\n- \n
- Respond to technical enquiries and prepare tailored designs and specifications \n
- Create accurate quotations aligned with both client needs and company capabilities \n
- Balance technical, commercial, and operational considerations \n
Project Management & Delivery
\n- \n
- Lead projects from enquiry through to completion \n
- Manage planning, procurement, and resource coordination \n
- Ensure safety, quality, and customer satisfaction throughout \n
- Oversee engineering teams, subcontractors, and internal support functions \n
- Track project profitability and performance \n
Health & Safety Compliance
\n- \n
- Ensure all activities comply with H&S and environmental policies \n
- Assist with RAMS documentation and promote a safe working culture \n
Candidate Profile:
\n- \n
- Technically strong with qualifications in mechanical, electrical, refrigeration or air-conditioning disciplines. \n
- Commercially aware, with a track record of developing business in an engineering environment.t \n
- Experience working in a contracting role, ideally within building services or similar. \n
- Competent in system design and equipment specification \n
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Mac or PC); CAD experience advantageous \n
- Knowledge of H&S legislation \n
- A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills \n
- Self-motivated, well-organised and capable of managing multiple priorities \n
- Able to take ownership and deliver high-quality outcomes \n
- Willingness to travel across the region and work flexibly when required \n
- Full clean UK driving licence \n
