\nHourly rate: £20.38 PAYE / £27.03 Umbrella
\nContract Length: 3-month contract (possibility of extension)
\nWorking Pattern: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 36 hours

\nAbout the Role
\nWe are looking for a proactive, customer-focused Revenues Officer to join our Revenues team and help deliver an exceptional service to residents, businesses, and key stakeholders. You will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate administration, collection, and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates, supporting the Council's wider commitment to excellent financial stewardship and outstanding customer service.

\n\nKey Responsibilities
\nAs a Revenues Officer, you will:
\n- \n
- Manage customer enquiries across multiple channels, including telephone, online, and face-to-face appointments. \n
- Process and maintain accurate Council Tax and Business Rates records, ensuring all updates comply with relevant legislation and council policy. \n
- Set up new accounts, apply reductions, exemptions, discounts, and reliefs, and action refunds where appropriate. \n
- Negotiate and agree payment arrangements with customers, including post-summons cases. \n
- Support court hearings by interviewing customers, making informed decisions, and preparing documentation. \n
- Implement recovery action to maximise revenue for the Council. \n
- Liaise with internal teams and external partners such as the Valuation Office, DWP, solicitors, voluntary groups, and more. \n
- Use key systems (Northgate, Iclipse, CRM, tracing tools etc.) to update records and investigate customer circumstances. \n
- Contribute to service improvement, team meetings, and cross-departmental projects. \n
About You
\nWe're looking for someone who:

- Has excellent verbal and written communication skills. \n
- Is comfortable interpreting complex legislation and applying it accurately. \n
- Can manage their own workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. \n
- Demonstrates strong numerical ability and attention to detail. \n
- Is IT-literate and confident using multiple systems. \n
- Works well both independently and as part of a team. \n
- Brings a customer-centric attitude with a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. \n
Experience in revenues, collections, local taxation, or recovery work is highly desirable, with opportunities for skilled candidates to undertake more advanced responsibilities.
