Job Description

Nu Staff are recruiting for Skilled CNC Machinists to join a leading aerospace composite manufacturing business based at Western Approach, Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy aircraft component manufacturing environment on a 6-month rolling contract with genuine temp to perm opportunities and structured training on a Core Nights shift pattern.

As a Skilled Machinist, you'll operate, set, and programme CNC machinery to manufacture aircraft components from composite and metallic materials in line with design and engineering requirements.

  • Mon–Weds Night: 8:00PM – 6:00AM
  • \n
  • Thursday Night: 7:00PM – 4:30AM
  • \n

Pay Rates

Training Period

\n

  • £18.43 per hour on core days (2–12 weeks, subject to experience)
  • \n
\n

Shift Rate

\n
    \n
  • £24.51 per hour PAYE
  • \n
  • £27.65 per hour weekday overtime
  • \n
  • £36.86 per hour weekend overtime
  • \n
\n

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Manufacture, machine, measure, test and assemble aircraft components from composite and metallic materials, up to 15m in length, using automated machinery
  • \n
  • Operate CNC rout machines, 5 Axis Zimmerman drilling and fettling gantry machines and jigged vacuum fixtures
  • \n
  • Use Renishaw probing equipment and cutter tool setting equipment
  • \n
  • Load and set fixtures and tooling in CNC machines
  • \n
  • Work in accordance with aircraft design drawing requirements
  • \n
  • Participate in lean manufacture, waste reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
  • \n
  • Follow Health & Safety requirements, including relevant risk, COSHH and safe systems of work
  • \n
  • Undertake training in advanced composite manufacturing techniques and processes
  • \n
  • Able to work night shift patterns in line with operational requirements
  • \n

Requirements

\n
    \n
  • Apprenticeship (industry related) or minimum Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ essential – aero/engineering degree considered with 3–5 years' machining experience including 5 Axis
  • \n
  • Certificates must be sent with CV
  • \n
  • Ideally 3–5 years' experience on CNC machines; Siemens 840D control system experience desirable
  • \n
  • Understanding of aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems
  • \n
  • Self-motivated with good communication skills
  • \n
  • Able to work both alone and as part of small teams led by Process Team Leaders
  • \n
