Experienced Finance Manager looking to take ownership of a growing business's financial function?

We're recruiting for a Head of Finance to join a rapidly expanding estate agency group based in Bury St Edmunds. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to work closely with the company Directors, playing a key role in shaping financial strategy and supporting continued business growth.

This senior position offers genuine responsibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to influence key commercial decisions within a successful and evolving organisation.

The Role

As a Head of Finance, you will:

• Take ownership of the full finance function across the business
\n
• Lead, support, and develop a small finance team
\n
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and cash-flow reports
\n
• Produce monthly profit and loss accounts with clear analysis of performance, profitability, variances, and improvement opportunities
\n
• Monitor business performance against agreed KPIs and provide recommendations where required
\n
• Work closely with the leadership team to develop and improve commercial and operational performance measures
\n
• Provide financial insight by identifying trends, risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement
\n
• Manage day-to-day finance operations, including payments, banking, reconciliations, and financial controls
\n
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, supplier payments, and credit control
\n
• Support annual budgeting, business planning, and future growth strategies
\n
• Liaise with external accountants, advisers, suppliers, and key stakeholders
\n
• Improve financial systems and processes to support business efficiency
\n
• Manage Xero across the finance function, including reporting, reconciliations, invoicing, payment processes, and controls
\n

Head of Finance Requirements

\n
• Proven experience in a similar senior finance role
\n
• Recognised accounting qualification
\n
• Strong experience preparing management accounts, P&L reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow reporting
\n
• Experience managing finance operations and improving processes
\n
• Confident using Xero, including reconciliations, invoicing, reporting, and payment workflows
\n
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
\n
• Commercially minded with the ability to provide clear financial insight
\n
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work closely with Directors and senior stakeholders
\n
