The team is recognised for providing compassionate, practical, and client-focused advice in sensitive family cases, including care proceedings, child arrangements, and other Children Act matters..

Role Overview

\n

Care / Family Paralegal to join its growing Family team.

\n

The successful candidate will support solicitors on a varied caseload covering both private family law and public care proceedings. The role offers excellent exposure to all stages of case progression, including drafting legal documents, preparing court bundles, liaising with clients and third parties, and assisting with court proceedings.

\n

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist solicitors in managing private family law and public care proceedings.
  • \n
  • Draft correspondence, witness statements, court applications, and legal documents.
  • \n
  • Prepare and manage electronic court bundles and Court Portal filings.
  • \n
  • Conduct legal research and prepare summaries for fee earners.
  • \n
  • Liaise with clients, barristers, social services, experts, and other third parties.
  • \n
  • Assist with disclosure, evidence gathering, and expert instructions.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
  • \n
  • Record time and assist with billing where required.
  • \n
  • Attend court hearings, client meetings, and conferences alongside solicitors as appropriate.

Skills & Experience

    \n
  • Previous experience within a legal environment, preferably in Family Law.
  • \n
  • Exposure to private family matters and/or public care proceedings is advantageous.
  • \n
  • Excellent drafting, organisational, and communication skills.
  • \n
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • \n
  • Professional and discreet approach when handling confidential information.
  • \n
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with Court Portal, bundle preparation software, or legal aid processes is advantageous.
  • \n
  • Law degree, GDL, LPC, SQE, or equivalent legal qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • \n
