Head of Finance (Part-Time) | Bournemouth | Office Based | 2–3 Days Per Week | £70,000–£90,000 FTE (pro rata)

\nWe're recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing business seeking a commercially minded Head of Finance to provide strategic financial leadership, strengthen governance and support the continued development of its finance function.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced qualified accountant who enjoys improving processes, developing people and providing senior financial oversight within an ambitious organisation. Rather than managing day-to-day transactional finance, you'll focus on ensuring the finance function operates effectively, delivers meaningful financial insight and supports future business growth.
\n\nThe Opportunity
\nWorking closely with the senior leadership team, you'll provide financial leadership across the organisation, ensuring robust governance, accurate reporting and effective financial controls.
\nYou'll act as a trusted advisor, supporting strategic decision-making while mentoring the finance team and helping to build a scalable finance function for the future.
\n\nKey Responsibilities
\nFinancial Leadership & Governance
\n- \n
- Provide strategic oversight of the finance function, ensuring strong financial governance and best practice. \n
- Review financial controls, identifying opportunities to strengthen processes and improve efficiency. \n
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and financial reporting requirements. \n
- Support senior leadership with commercial financial advice and decision-making. \n
Financial Reporting & Assurance
\n- \n
- Review and sign off monthly management accounts and financial reporting. \n
- Ensure reporting provides meaningful insight to support business performance. \n
- Review payroll, purchase ledger and key financial processes to ensure accuracy and compliance. \n
- Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate actions. \n
Team Leadership & Development

- Lead, mentor and support the finance team, encouraging continuous development. \n
- Strengthen financial reporting capability across the business. \n
- Develop robust finance processes and internal controls to support future growth. \n
- Build capability within the finance team through coaching and succession planning. \n
Commercial & Operational Support
\n- \n
- Oversee working capital, revenue processes and debtor performance. \n
- Support improvements to financial systems and reporting. \n
- Provide financial input into commercial contracts and key business decisions. \n
- Liaise with external advisers including accountants, banks and professional partners. \n
- Support the ongoing development of company policies and governance frameworks. \n
About You
\nYou'll be an experienced finance leader who enjoys combining strategic thinking with a hands-on, supportive approach.
\nYou'll ideally have:
\n- \n
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or equivalent senior finance experience). \n
- A proven track record in a senior finance leadership position. \n
- Strong financial reporting, governance and compliance expertise. \n
- Experience reviewing and signing off management accounts. \n
- Excellent commercial awareness and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. \n
- Strong leadership skills with experience developing and mentoring finance teams. \n
- The ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement positive change. \n
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach. \n
Desirable
\n- \n
- Experience working within an SME environment. \n
- Previous experience supporting business growth and organisational change. \n
- Experience improving finance systems, reporting and internal controls. \n
- Previous experience in a part-time leadership position. \n
