LD Support Worker Part Time
Job Description
We are a day service for adults with Learning disabilities and Autism based in Redditch. We provide supported activities with an emphasis on learning. As a Support worker, you will be leading a group to participate in a variety of activities, for example: cooking; drama; dance; sports and fitness; science experiments; photography projects; arts and crafts; literacy and numeracy; games; swimming; bowling; day trips; enterprises; and many more. The activities are based at our centre and also out in the community. We also provide supported work experience at our cafe and charity shop called Cups and Saucers.
\nAnother aspect of the role is to provide 1:1 outreach support outside of our day service opening hours. In the role you may be working alongside other colleagues or lone working (full training and shadowing will be provided during the induction period before you do lone working).
\nWe are looking for someone who is assertive enough to lead and motivate their group. A friendly person with a sense of humour, who is able to make the activities informative as well as fun. A professional person who understands boundaries and who is motivated to provide opportunities for adults with LD to reach their full potential.
\nExperience in a similar role or field essential.

\nWorking hours are generally between 9am - 4pm on a rota basis. However, you may be needed to work until 6pm occasionally. And we have a compulsory staff meeting once a month on a Tuesday 4-6.30pm which you need to be able to attend.
\nPart time; 3 days out of 4 per week; Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and occasional Saturdays. For example, if you work a Saturday you will then only work two days during the week.
\nAbility to cover for staff holidays on other days of the week advantageous.
\nMust be willing to do the occasional Saturday - 1-2 per month. This is spread over the whole staff team. And we offer social evenings a few times per year - again must be willing to work occasional social events - ample notice will be provided.

\nFull induction and training provided. Adult workforce DBS check is essential (cost initially met by employee and reimbursed after 12 weeks of successful employment) and at least 2 satisfactory employment references are also required.

\nExtra day off for your birthday* (*subject to terms).
\nPension.
\nWe operate 52 weeks per year and only close on bank holidays. We are not term-time only.
