Skilled Fitter
Job Description
Nu Staff are recruiting for Skilled Composite Aircraft Fitters to join a leading aerospace manufacturing business based at Western Approach, Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy aircraft assembly environment on a 6-month rolling contract with genuine temp to perm opportunities and structured training on a 12/7 day shift pattern.
\nAs a Skilled Fitter, you'll assemble and trim composite and metallic aircraft main wing assemblies and sub-assemblies from detail parts, using appropriate assembly techniques, tools and fixtures in line with design and engineering requirements.

\n12/7 Shift (7 Day Fort Days)
\n11.5 hour days, average 40.25 hour week, all days 6:00AM – 6:00PM

Pay Rates
\nTraining Period
\n- \n
- £18.43 per hour on core days (2–12 weeks, subject to experience) \n
Shift Rate
\n- \n
- £23.59 per hour PAYE \n
- £27.65 per hour weekday overtime \n
- £36.86 per hour weekend overtime \n
Key Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Assemble and trim composite and metallic aircraft components \n
- Drilling, reaming and countersinking of composite and metallic components \n
- Set aircraft components in calibrated build jigs \n
- Deburring and under-head radius of aircraft components and assemblies \n
- Fettling using approved and calibrated setting tools \n
- Use nut runners and pre-set torque guns for bolting \n
- Participate fully in local continuous improvement activities \n
- Work in line with Health & Safety site requirements \n
Requirements
\n- \n
- Apprenticeship (industry related) or minimum Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ essential \n
- Certificates must be sent with CV \n
- Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances \n
- Good hand skills and coordination \n
- Understanding of aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems \n
- Ability to operate CNC machines and processes as required \n
- Self-motivated team player with good communication and interpersonal skills \n
- Ability to work both alone and in small teams \n
- Working knowledge of IT systems including SAP and Microsoft packages \n
- Candidates must attend and pass a practical trade test on site (approx. 2 hours) to be offered a role \n
