General Manager - Transport

Location: Dartford, Kent

Salary: £65K + additional benefits

We are looking for an experienced and motivated General Manager - Transport to lead and develop our transport operation. This is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of transport services while driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in transport management, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to inspire and lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.

• Lead the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring service excellence and operational efficiency.
\n
• Manage and develop transport managers, planners, supervisors, drivers, and support teams.
\n
• Ensure full compliance with all transport legislation, health and safety requirements, and operator licence obligations.
\n
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, service levels, and cost efficiency.
\n
• Manage transport budgets, KPIs, and performance reporting.
\n
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
\n
• Identify opportunities for operational growth and process improvement.
\n
• Promote a positive culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer service.
\n
• Lead investigations, incident management, and corrective action plans where required.
\n
• Support business strategy and contribute to wider organisational objectives.

Key Skills / Experience:

• Significant senior management experience within a transport or logistics environment.
\n
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
\n
• CPC qualification (National or International) is highly desirable.
\n
• Proven experience managing large teams and multi-site operations.
\n
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
\n
• Strong financial and commercial acumen.
\n
• Ability to analyse operational data and implement improvements.
\n
• Experience managing KPIs, budgets, and performance.
\n
• Full UK driving licence.
\n
