Trainee Accountant

A growing, friendly, accountancy and business advisory firm near Maidstone is hiring a Trainee Accountant to support a varied, high-quality portfolio. This is an office-based role with study support available and the chance to build a long-term career within a business that genuinely invests in development.About the role The Trainee Accountant will support a diverse client base including owner-managed businesses, and High Net Worth Individuals. Key responsibilities will include:\n

• Bookkeeping support across a client portfolio
\n
• Monitoring preparation and filing of VAT returns
\n
• Preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and statutory accounts (plus supporting tax computations)
\n
• Preparing personal and corporate tax returns
\n
• Supporting payroll tasks from time to time
\n
• Companies House compliance, including Annual Confirmation Statements
\n

The role offers clearly defined objectives, varied work and the freedom to plan workload effectively, with regular feedback in a collaborative environment. This role will suit someone who is serious about building an accountancy career and wants breadth of exposure early on. The ideal person will be:\n

• AAT Qualified or studying towards ACA/ACCA
\n
• Curious, analytical and confident with spreadsheets/data analysis
\n
• Detail-focused, deadline-aware and solutions-led
\n
• Confident communicating with both clients and colleagues
