Reed Accountancy are proud to be exclusively partnering with a client in West Oxfordshire, who are seeking an Accounts Assistant to support its finance function and grow within the team to drive their career forward. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is technically strong, and is keen to take ownership of more senior responsibilities, supporting the Management Accountant.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

    \n
  • Process and maintain the purchase ledger, including matching, coding, and posting supplier invoices.
  • \n
  • Investigate supplier statement and invoice discrepancies and support payment run preparation.
  • \n
  • Raise and issue accurate sales invoices to customers and trade clients.
  • \n
  • Monitor aged debt and proactively follow up outstanding payments via telephone and email.
  • \n
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and accurately allocate multi-currency transactions.
  • \n
  • Process employee expenses and mileage claims, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • \n
  • Manage and reconcile petty cash records.
  • \n
  • Support finance colleagues with routine intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
  • \n
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and control accounts.
  • \n
  • Investigate and resolve account variances in a timely manner.
  • \n
  • Manage the finance inbox and respond to queries professionally.
  • \n
  • Maintain organised digital filing systems to support audit and compliance requirements.
  • \n

Required Skills and Qualifications:

\n
    \n
  • Previous experience in an accounting, finance, or transactional accounts position within an SME environment.
  • \n
  • Working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts.
  • \n
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, filtering, and data manipulation.
  • \n
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • \n
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • \n
  • AAT qualification (completed or currently studying) or equivalent accounting qualification.
  • \n
