\nFuture Director / Partner Opportunity
\nAre you an experienced practice accountant looking for a long-term role with genuine progression?
\nDo you enjoy being an all-rounder, working closely with clients, and taking real ownership of your work?
\nWe’re working exclusively with a well-established, friendly independent practice in Bristol that is looking to recruit a Senior Accountant. This is a pivotal hire for the firm and offers a clear pathway to directorship and, ultimately, partnership / succession, as the current Practice Director plans to gradually step back over time.
\nAbout the Firm
\nThe practice supports a wide range of clients - including sole traders, landlords, engineering firms, hospitality businesses, charities, and micro-companies - offering services across payroll, VAT, tax returns, year-end accounts, and company compliance.
\nYou’ll be joining a small, supportive team consisting of the Practice Director, a full-time AAT-qualified accountant, and a part-time bookkeeper. With over 500 clients and a steady influx of work, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants to make a real impact.
\nThe Role
\nWe’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running and take responsibility for:
\n- \n
- Preparing year-end accounts, tax returns, VAT returns and compliance work \n
- Reviewing the work of junior staff \n
- Managing client queries and providing high-quality advice \n
- Supporting practice administration when required \n
- Helping streamline workflows and ensure high levels of accuracy \n
- Gradually taking over key responsibilities as part of a planned succession pathway \n
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on, thrives in a smaller practice environment, and takes real pride in getting the fundamentals right.
\nWhat We’re Looking For
\n- \n
- Experience in accountancy practice (small firm experience is a strong advantage) \n
- Strong compliance background and excellent attention to detail \n
- Confident reviewing junior team members’ work \n
- Comfortable managing a varied client portfolio \n
- A proactive, dependable, “all-rounder” mindset \n
- Someone excited by the chance to grow into a senior leadership role over time \n
If you’re qualified (ACA/ACCA) and looking for that next step, we’d love to hear from you.
\nSalary & Benefits
\n- \n
- £40,000 – £55,000, depending on experience \n
- Genuine long-term progression to Director/Partner \n
- Supportive, close-knit team \n
- Broad, varied workload \n
- Opportunity to help shape the future of the practice \n
