Are you an experienced and practical individual looking for your next opportunity as a School Caretaker? Our client, a well-regarded school, is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join their premises team on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. Previous experience working within a school setting would be advantageous but is not essential.

Monday to Friday

  • 7:00am – 4:00pm

  • 10:00am – 7:00pm

Key Responsibilities

\n

Maintenance & Facilities

\n
    \n
  • Carry out regular inspections of the school buildings and grounds, updating systems and records as required.
  • \n
  • Ensure playgrounds, pathways, and fire escape routes are kept clean, safe, and free from hazards.
  • \n
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain heating, lighting, water, and ventilation systems.
  • \n
  • Undertake minor maintenance, repair, and decorating tasks.
  • \n

Health & Safety

  • Identify and report defects, maintenance issues, and health & safety concerns promptly.
  • \n
  • Support the testing and operation of fire alarm systems and assist with fire drills.
  • \n
  • Ensure emergency lighting is functioning correctly.
  • \n
  • Provide first aid assistance when required.
  • \n
  • Work closely with cleaning teams to maintain high standards across the site.
  • \n
\n

Security

  • Assist with the security of the school premises, including the locking and unlocking of buildings, gates, and doors.
  • \n
  • Act as a key holder and support the management of alarm systems.
  • \n
  • Respond to security alarm activations when required.
  • \n
  • Assist with school events, including room setups, moving equipment, and general portering duties.
  • \n

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS Check (Child Workforce).
  • \n
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.
  • \n
  • Practical maintenance skills and a proactive, flexible approach to work.
  • \n
  • Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
  • \n
