Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: 7:30am - 11:30am and 3:00pm - 6:15pm

The Opportunity

\n

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on School Caretaker to help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment. Working closely with the Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day upkeep of the premises and grounds, ensuring facilities are well maintained and fully operational.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance skills, a strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day repairs, maintenance and DIY tasks.
  • \n
  • Ensure buildings and grounds are clean, safe and well presented.
  • \n
  • Open and secure the site, monitoring security and reporting any concerns.
  • \n
  • Conduct regular health & safety, fire alarm, emergency lighting and water hygiene checks.
  • \n
  • Assist with minor refurbishment projects and preventative maintenance.
  • \n
  • Oversee contractors working on site and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • \n
  • Monitor heating, lighting and utility systems.
  • \n
  • Carry out grounds maintenance, litter picking and general outdoor upkeep.
  • \n
  • Support the setup of rooms, meetings, assemblies and school events.
  • \n
  • Move furniture and equipment as required.
  • \n
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and compliance checks.
  • \n

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities or premises role.
  • \n
  • Good practical skills covering basic repairs and maintenance.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of health & safety procedures and compliance requirements.
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • \n
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • A flexible, reliable and proactive approach.
  • \n
  • Basic IT literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • \n
