Machine Operator
Job Description
My client; a multi disciplined manufacturing organisation, is currently looking to recruit a permanent full time machine operative.
\nPrinciple Accountabilities
\nPreparing all aspects of tool change in readiness for manufacturing.
\nActivities, Duties and Key Tasks
\nTOOL CHANGING & PRODUCTION
\nRetrieve tools from stores and update records.
\nDeliver tool to machines.
\nClean hopper.
\nLoads material into the machine hopper and update records
\nTo undertake first-off inspections, undertaking measurements against specifications/drawings and undertake quality control measures
\nRemove moulds from machines and stage for disassembly
\nMaintain clean and organised work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilisation
\nComplete and update necessary paperwork
\nMaintain inventories of materials.
\nGENERAL SHOP FLOOR TASKS
\nContinually seek to improve work processes and individual performance
\nFollow company Health and Safety regulations
\nLiaise with Production Manager with any problems with preparing jobs effectively immediately.
\nObserve continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure that products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, reporting as necessary.
\nPerform maintenance work such as cleaning and oiling machines.
\nRepair or replace damaged moulds, pipes, belts, chains, or other equipment, using hand tools, hand-powered presses, or jib cranes.
\nEnsure good housekeeping is kept at all times.
\nAd-hoc tasks for Line Manager and assist all Directors with all reasonable requests
\nQualifications/Experience
\nGeneral engineering experience - Essential
\nSpecific training to be provided
\nBIT NVQ 2 - Desirable
\nPerson Specification
\nAbility to work in a team - Essential
\nEngineering background - Essential
\nAbility to trouble shoot - Essential
\nKnowledge of Demag machinery - Desirable – training available
\nAbility to understand and deliver quality criteria - Desirable – training available
\nUnderstanding of Health and Safety legislation requirements - Desirable
\nLean manufacturing experience - Desirable
\nWorking hours are 40hrs per week, however due to my clients infrastructure, there is a certain amount of flexibility with shifts starting at 7am and ending at 5pm, with 8-2 on Fridays. There is also an option to either start at 7, 8 or potentially even 9 (but would need to finish at 6 in order to complete the 40 hour working week)
