Job Description
Job Title: HR & Safety Coordinator
\nLocation: Bridgwater, UKSalary: £30,000 – £35,000Working Pattern: Primarily site-based with Friday working from home 37.5 hours per week (flexible start / finish times)
\nThe HR & Safety Coordinator will play a key role in supporting both HR and Health & Safety functions within a dynamic, small business environment.
\nThis role is responsible for ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation and Health & Safety regulations, while supporting day-to-day administration, ongoing projects, and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
\nHR Administration

- Provide general HR administrative support, including drafting letters, maintaining employee records, and filing documentation \n
- Manage attendance tracking, annual leave, sickness absence reporting, and SSP administration \n
- Coordinate return-to-work meetings and absence reviews \n
- Support occupational health referrals and medical surveillance processes \n
- Maintain employee records and documentation in line with GDPR requirements \n
- Attend disciplinary, grievance, and formal meetings, taking accurate minutes \n
- Maintain the training matrix and coordinate internal and external training \n
- Support recruitment activities for both hourly and salaried roles \n
- Coordinate onboarding and induction, including Right to Work checks \n
- Assist with probation reviews and employee documentation \n
- Provide payroll with relevant employee updates and data \n
- Support employee engagement initiatives, including surveys and events \n
- Ensure confidentiality of all employee information \n
Health & Safety Support
\n- \n
- Log and track incidents, near misses, and accident investigations, including RIDDOR reporting \n
- Maintain PPE records and ensure inspection and replacement schedules are met \n
- Support the development and communication of Health & Safety policies and procedures \n
- Maintain documentation including risk assessments, COSHH, and safe systems of work \n
- Coordinate Health & Safety Committee meetings \n
- Support workplace inspections, DSE assessments, and audits \n
- Coordinate mandatory Health & Safety training and maintain records \n
- Support fire safety compliance and inspections \n
- Assist with internal and external audits (e.g., ISO/BRC compliance) \n
- Track corrective actions through to completion \n
- Promote a positive and proactive safety culture \n

Skills & Experience
\n- \n
- Experience in HR administration and Health & Safety coordination \n
- Understanding of UK employment law and H&S regulations \n
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or operational environments (desirable) \n
- Excellent organisational and time management skills \n
- High attention to detail and accuracy \n
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal \n
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) \n
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality \n
- Flexible, proactive approach suited to a small business environment \n
Qualifications (desirable):

- NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH qualification \n
- CIPD qualification or willingness to work towards \n
