Reed
Borehamwood, ENG, GB Full Time

Job Description

Technical Project Manager – Live Event Production

\n

Location: Borehamwood - Hertfordshire (25 mins from Central London)Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 (DOE)Working Pattern: Flexible – aligned to live event schedules

\n

The Role

\n

This isn’t a coordination role — it’s about technical ownership.

\n

We’re looking for a Technical Project Manager from a live events background who is confident taking projects from initial brief through to live show delivery, and who’s just as comfortable specifying a system as they are leading a crew onsite.

\n

You’ll sit at the centre of each project — bridging client, creative, and technical teams — and making sure everything lands on time, on spec, and on show day without compromise.

\n

What You’ll Be Doing

\n
    \n
  • Taking full ownership of end-to-end live event delivery
  • \n
  • Acting as the technical lead onsite across lighting, audio, and video
  • \n
  • Translating creative briefs into practical, buildable technical solutions
  • \n
  • Designing systems and specifying exact equipment (brands/models)
  • \n
  • Producing quotes, budgets, technical drawings, and documentation
  • \n
  • Leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary technical teams
  • \n
  • Managing logistics, schedules, and resources across multiple projects
  • \n
  • Troubleshooting live issues in real time — staying calm under pressure
  • \n
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with clients
  • \n
\n

What We’re Looking For

\n

You’re likely already working in live events and want a role where you can step up and take full technical control, not just manage timelines.

\n

You’ll need:

\n
    \n
  • Solid experience in live event production
  • \n
  • Strong expertise in at least one discipline (lighting, audio, or video) with confidence across all three
  • \n
  • Proven ability to design and deliver technical solutions end-to-end
  • \n
  • Experience leading teams and running projects onsite
  • \n
  • Confidence producing technical drawings, specs, and H&S documentation
  • \n
  • Strong commercial awareness — comfortable with budgets and quoting
  • \n
  • A hands-on mindset — willing to get involved when it counts
  • \n
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills
  • \n
\n

Bonus if you have:

\n
    \n
  • AutoCAD and/or rental/asset system experience
  • \n
  • UK driving licence
  • \n
\n

You’ll Fit This Role If You

\n
    \n
  • Prefer being close to the delivery, not just managing from behind a desk
  • \n
  • Enjoy solving real-world technical problems under pressure
  • \n
  • Can confidently walk onto site and be seen as the technical authority
  • \n
  • Thrive in fast-moving environments where no two shows are the same
  • \n
  • Balance creative thinking with practical execution
  • \n
  • Lead by example and bring teams with you
  • \n
\n

Why Join

\n
    \n
  • Work on high-quality, technically engaging productions
  • \n
  • Be part of a team that values multi-skilled technical leaders
  • \n
  • Real ownership — no siloed roles
  • \n
  • Opportunity to grow into senior technical leadership
  • \n
\n

What’s On Offer

\n

Salary & Benefits

\n
    \n
  • £50,000 – £60,000 (DOE)
  • \n
  • Pension scheme + long service recognition
  • \n
\n

Health & Wellbeing

\n
    \n
  • Private healthcare and dental cover
  • \n
  • Enhanced sick pay
  • \n
  • Time-back policy after long/weekend event days
  • \n
\n

Culture

\n
    \n
  • Supportive, collaborative technical team
  • \n
  • Regular socials and company events
  • \n
  • Daily perks in the office
  • \n
\n

Development

\n
    \n
  • Access to high-spec kit and technology
  • \n
  • Ongoing training and progression opportunities
  • \n
\n

The Reality of the Role

\n

This is for someone who enjoys owning projects, leading from the front, and delivering under live event pressure — not someone who wants a purely desk-based PM role.
