Accountant – Finance Operations (Maternity Cover- Interim Hybrid working )

Location: Cardiff (Hybrid – 2 days in office)Rate: £300 per day (via Umbrella)Contract: Maternity Cover -10-12 months

About the Role

We are seeking a high-calibre Qualified Accountant to join a Finance Operations team based in Cardiff. This role offers a hybrid working model, combining office collaboration with flexible remote working.

You’ll join a high-performing finance function delivering an integrated, sustainable, and high-quality accounting and reporting service to a wide range of business stakeholders.

The team plays a key role in ensuring strong financial control, balance sheet integrity, and effective governance through robust internal control frameworks

Key Responsibilities

As an Accountant, you will be responsible for:

• Managing end-to-end intercompany accounting processes, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and resolving discrepancies
\n
• Overseeing intercompany cash settlements, including payments, receipts, and netting cycles in line with treasury requirements
\n
• Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate testing, ensuring full compliance with internal controls and governance standards
\n
• Prioritising and managing workload effectively to meet recurring deadlines and ad hoc requests
\n
• Partnering with stakeholders across finance, operations, and wider business teams, including outsourced providers
\n
• Supporting internal and external audit processes to ensure efficient delivery
\n

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

\n
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
\n
• Strong technical accounting knowledge
\n
• Proven experience with balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
\n
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
\n
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
\n
• High attention to detail with a commitment to financial control and governance
\n
• Experience with controls frameworks and intercompany accounting
\n

Desirable Experience

\n
• Background in Finance Operations or Shared Services environments
\n
• Advanced Excel skills
\n
• Experience using SAP and/or BlackLine
\n
• Knowledge of financial controls frameworks and audit support
\n
