Are you an experienced operational manager with a background in waste management, environmental services, logistics, or a similar field? We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Waste Operations Manager to oversee teams across multiple Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS) and Waste Transfer Stations (WTS) throughout Leicestershire.
\nThis is an exciting opportunity to join a busy service, leading operational teams, ensuring compliance, delivering training, and driving high standards of health, safety, and customer service.

About the Role
\nThis is a predominantly field-based management role, requiring daily attendance at waste sites across the county. The successful candidate will lead operational teams, support HR processes, ensure compliance with environmental legislation, and maintain high standards of service delivery.
\nResponsibilities

- Manage and support operational site teams across multiple locations. \n
- Conduct one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, return-to-work interviews, and onboarding activities. \n
- Support disciplinary, attendance, and performance management processes. \n
- Deliver training, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and learning programmes. \n
- Develop, monitor, and enforce safe systems of work and risk assessments. \n
- Ensure environmental permit compliance and accurate waste transfer documentation. \n
- Monitor and improve quality management processes. \n
- Manage stock levels of PPE, uniforms, equipment, fuel, and other consumables. \n
- Handle customer complaints professionally and effectively. \n
- Occasionally drive a Council 3.5-tonne vehicle when required. \n
Essential Requirements
\n- \n
- Experience managing operational teams. \n
- Strong leadership and people management skills. \n
- Experience within waste management, contract management, environmental services, or a similar operational environment. \n
- Experience delivering training and coaching staff. \n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. \n
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office. \n
- Good literacy and numeracy skills. \n
- Full UK driving licence. \n
- Access to a vehicle with business-use insurance. \n
