CNC Turning Setter Operator

Location: Chelmsford, Essex Salary: DOE + Benefits Full-Time | Permanent

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a skilled CNC Turning Setter Operator to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a precision engineering environment, producing high-quality components to exact specifications.

We are open to candidates across the UK, with relocation considered for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CNC turning machines (including Nakamura and Citizen sliding head lathes)
\n
• Manufacture components in line with production plans and customer deadlines
\n
• Ensure all parts meet engineering drawings and tight tolerances
\n
• Adjust tooling, offsets, and make program edits to optimise performance
\n
• Conduct first-off and in-process inspection using precision measuring tools
\n
• Complete route cards and maintain accurate quality documentation
\n
• Work collaboratively with the team to maintain efficient production flow
\n
• Maintain machine upkeep and a clean, safe working environment
\n

What We’re Looking For

\n
• Proven experience as a CNC Turning Setter / Operator
\n
• Experience with sliding head lathes (Citizen, Nakamura preferred)
\n
• Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering drawings
\n
• Strong inspection skills using tools such as micrometers, verniers, and calipers
\n
• High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality
\n
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
\n
