Materials AdministratorLocation: SwindonSalary: £25,000 – £28,000 per annumHours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week)We are recruiting for a Materials Administrator to join a well-established engineering business in Swindon. This is a varied and hands-on role that combines office administration with practical workshop support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both desk-based and operational responsibilities.Approximately 50% of the role will be office-based, with the remaining 50% spent in the workshop working alongside technicians to pick materials, prepare works orders, and ensure components are correctly allocated for engineering assemblies.Key Responsibilities\n

- Processing and administering works orders and material requirements. \n
- Picking components and parts for engineering assemblies in line with production schedules. \n
- Cross-checking picked items against engineering paperwork, works orders, and bills of materials to ensure complete accuracy. \n
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to identify the correct components. \n
- Maintaining accurate records using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. \n
- Liaising with customers and clients over the phone, providing updates and responding to enquiries in a professional manner. \n
- Working closely with the workshop team to support production deadlines. \n
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages or discrepancies. \n
- Ensuring all documentation is accurate, organised, and up to date. \n
- Supporting the wider team with general administrative duties as required. \n

- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel. \n
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills. \n
- Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach. \n
- The ability to read and understand engineering drawings. \n
- Strong communication skills with a confident and professional telephone manner. \n
- Experience within an engineering, manufacturing, production or technical environment is highly desirable. \n
- The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. \n
- A proactive, flexible and positive attitude. \n
- The ability to work effectively as part of a small, close-knit team. \n
- Good problem-solving skills and the confidence to take ownership of your workload. \n
- A good level of physical fitness, as the role involves regular movement around the workshop and manual picking of materials and components. \n
