Job Description

A highly regarded international investment management and financial planning firm is continuing to expand its UK advice function and is seeking to recruit Desk-Based Advisers / Paraplanners at varying levels of experience to join its established London team.

The firm manages circa £100bn of client assets globally and provides regulated financial advice to high-net-worth private clients across the UK and Europe. The London support function currently consists of over 60 professionals covering all areas of Financial Planning and Portfolio Management.

\n

The Role

\n

The successful candidate will sit within a UK advice and additions team, providing FCA-regulated financial planning advice and technical support across a wide range of client scenarios.

\n

Depending on experience, the role can be more client-facing or more technical/paraplanning focused, with flexibility for the right individual.

\n

Key responsibilities include:

\n
    \n
  • Conducting fact-finding calls with clients to understand objectives, financial circumstances, time horizons, and cash flow needs
  • \n
  • Analysing client portfolios to determine suitable asset allocation recommendations
  • \n
  • Reviewing and advising on pension transfers, investment bonds, taxation, and account structure suitability
  • \n
  • Assessing the suitability of pension transfers and bond surrenders
  • \n
  • Preparing detailed suitability reports, written recommendations, and financial planning proposals
  • \n
  • Communicating and delivering advice directly to clients to ensure understanding
  • \n
  • Working closely with internal departments to deliver best client outcomes
  • \n
  • Supporting training initiatives and contributing to process and efficiency improvements
  • \n
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with FCA regulations, internal T&C requirements, and Fit & Proper standards
  • \n

Candidate Profile

Typical requirements include:

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience within financial services
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of financial planning principles and client suitability
  • \n
  • Experience with pensions, investments, and tax planning
  • \n
  • Ability to work accurately with complex information and manage workloads effectively
  • \n
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, professional environment
  • \n
  • Strong communication skills, particularly over the phone
  • \n
  • Quantitative and analytical mindset
  • \n

Qualifications:

    \n
  • Degree educated or equivalent professional experience
  • \n
  • Level 4 qualification (CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or CISI Investment Advice Diploma preferred)
  • \n
  • Willingness to complete initial and ongoing Fit & Proper assessments
  • \n

Salary & Benefits

  • Basic salary: £60,000 – £70,000 (dependent on experience)

  • Bonus: Typically £10,000+
