SMT Machine Operator

Location: NewburySalary: £16.20 per hour, £31,590Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm

Overview

We are seeking an experienced SMT Machine Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will have a solid background in electronic assembly and hands-on experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT). You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT equipment while ensuring high-quality production standards are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading feeders and preparing components for production
\n
• PCB setup, including loading and handling boards for production processes
\n
• Paste stencil setup and operation, including:\n
  \n
  • Creating new programmes
  \n
  • Loading stencils
  \n
  • Setting up existing programmes
  \n
  • Running production processes
  \n
  • Cleaning stencils and associated tooling
  \n
\n
• SMT machine setup and operation, including:\n
  \n
  • Programme creation
  \n
  • Job setup and changeovers
  \n
  • Running production processes
  \n
  • Stripping down machines and returning parts to kits in the correct order
  \n
\n
• Operating reflow ovens for the production of assembled PCBs
\n

Requirements

\n
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar SMT role
\n
• Strong knowledge of PCB-level SMT component assembly
\n
• Basic understanding of PCB technologies
\n
• Good knowledge of SMT assembly processes
\n
• Ability to read and follow work/build instructions accurately
\n
• Experience with IPC-A-610 standards (desirable)
\n
• Understanding of Moisture Sensitivity Levels (MSL)
\n
• Clear and effective verbal communication skills
\n
• Good IT literacy, including experience with machine control and programming software, and the ability to learn new systems
\n
