Design Engineer
Job Description
Our client is a well-established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke automated equipment. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Design Engineer to join their engineering team.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking projects from concept through to manufacture while working on innovative automation solutions.
\nAs a Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing bespoke machinery and automation systems, ensuring designs are practical, cost-effective and manufacturable.
\nWorking closely with production, electrical engineers and customers, you'll support projects from initial concept through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Design bespoke mechanical equipment and automated machinery using 3D CAD. \n
- Produce manufacturing drawings, BOMs and technical documentation. \n
- Design assemblies incorporating motors, sensors, actuators and drives. \n
- Liaise with electrical and controls engineers to ensure seamless system integration. \n
- Support projects from concept through manufacture and installation. \n
- Attend design reviews and provide technical support where required. \n
- Work closely with production to resolve manufacturing issues. \n
- Identify opportunities for product improvements and cost reductions. \n
- Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards. \n
We're looking for an engineer with a strong mechanical design background and exposure to automation equipment.
Essential\n- \n
- Previous experience as a Design Engineer or Mechanical Design Engineer. \n
- Strong 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, Inventor or similar). \n
- Experience designing machinery or special purpose equipment. \n
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering principles. \n
- Experience producing manufacturing drawings and BOMs. \n
- Ability to manage multiple projects. \n

- Experience with automation equipment. \n
- Understanding of sensors, actuators, pneumatic systems and drives. \n
- Exposure to servo motors and motion control. \n
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled machinery (programming not essential). \n
- Experience supporting machinery through installation or commissioning. \n
