About the Role\nPareto FM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Building Services Engineer to join our on-site engineering team supporting a prestigious insurance client in the heart of the City of London.
\nBased primarily at a premium commercial office environment near Bank/Monument London, you'll play a key role in ensuring critical building services remain safe, compliant, and fully operational. This is a hands-on position suited to an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of their work, building strong client relationships, and working as part of a collaborative team.
\nWith a mix of planned preventative maintenance, reactive works, compliance activities, and critical plant monitoring, no two days are the same.
\n The Role\nAs a Building Services Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining and supporting a wide range of mechanical and electrical building services systems, ensuring excellent service delivery and a first-class workplace experience for the client.
\nWhile this is not a management role, you'll be trusted to work independently, support colleagues, and demonstrate leadership through your technical expertise, professionalism, and reliability.
\n What You'll Be Doing\n- \n

Delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across M&E systems
\n - \n
Fault finding and repairing HVAC systems including AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, pumps, and motors
\n - \n
Monitoring and responding to BMS alarms and critical building systems
\n - \n
Supporting UPS systems and critical infrastructure maintenance
\n - \n
Completing statutory inspections and compliance-related tasks
\n - \n
Updating CAFM systems accurately with completed works and follow-up actions
\n - \n
Managing permits to work and supporting subcontractors on site
\n - \n
Conducting routine plant inspections and identifying opportunities for improvement
\n - \n
Ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in accordance with site procedures
\n - \n
Acting as a professional day-to-day point of contact for the client and building occupants
\n - \n
Supporting the wider engineering team to ensure service excellence across the site
\n

Predominantly based at a premium commercial office building near Liverpool Street

Occasional paid travel to a satellite site in Chelmsford
\n - \n

40-hour week, Monday to Friday

Alternating shift pattern:

Early Shift: 07:00 – 16:00

Paid overtime opportunities available, including evenings and weekends

Optional on-call rota, currently 1 in 3

£100 standby payment per on-call period
\n - \n
Minimum 4 hours paid per call-out at overtime rates

Trade background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
\n - \n
Trained to City & Guilds standard or equivalent
\n - \n
City & Guilds 2330 Level 2 & 3 (Electrical) or equivalent

City & Guilds 6035 Level 3 (Mechanical/Plumbing) or equivalent
\n - \n
Legionella L8 Awareness (or willingness to undertake training)
\n

Experience working within Building Services, Facilities Management, or Commercial Maintenance environments
\n - \n
Strong background in planned and reactive maintenance
\n - \n
Experience fault finding across mechanical and electrical systems
\n - \n
Knowledge of HVAC plant, BMS systems, emergency lighting, and compliance activities
\n - \n
Experience using CAFM systems and digital maintenance platforms
\n - \n
Excellent communication and customer service skills
