Team Leader

Location: NorthamptonSalary: £14.50 per hourHours: 06:00 – 16:00 (flexibility required)Contract: Temp to PermWe are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and busy organisation within the distribution sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and hands-on individual to step into a Yard Team Leader position on a temporary to permanent basis.The RoleAs Team Leader, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the yard, ensuring operations are efficient, organised, and aligned with business needs. This is a fast-paced role, particularly during peak (winter) months, requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to perform under pressure.Key Responsibilities\n

• Organising, overseeing, and allocating work to yard staff
\n
• Managing stock control and inventory levels
\n
• Carrying out basic maintenance on machinery (e.g. forklifts, loading shovels, pre-packing equipment)
\n
• Preparing product for upcoming deliveries (bagging, wrapping, etc.)
\n
• Loading and unloading vehicles safely and efficiently
\n
• Maintaining regular communication with the office regarding stock deliveries, workload planning, and operational updates
\n
• Supporting forward planning and addressing operational issues as they arise
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential)
\n
• Loading Shovel Licence (desirable but not essential)
\n
• Strong organisational and communication skills
\n
• Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment
\n
• A proactive, “hands-on” approach with a willingness to lead by example
\n
• Team Leader experience is beneficial but not essential — the right attitude and leadership potential are key
\n

Working Hours\n

• Standard hours: 06:00 – 16:00 (may vary depending on business needs)
\n
• Saturday working required on a rota basis during winter (peak season)
\n
• Flexibility is essential, particularly during busy periods
\n
• Due to peak demand, holiday is typically restricted during winter months
\n
