Outsourcing Assistant
Job Description
LGS Vision Recruitment are supporting a forward-thinking growing firm of accountants who are based in the City of London with a Outsourcing Assistant position.
\nOur outsourcing team acts as the day-to-day finance function for a portfolio of clients effectively, an extension of their internal team. As an Assistant Accountant you’ll keep their books accurate and up to date, support the month end close, and be a friendly, dependable point of contact whenever they need something.
\nIt’s a varied role with real client exposure. You’ll juggle several clients at once, work closely with a supportive team, and have the chance to develop your technical skills alongside your studies.
\nResponsibilities:
\nTransaction Processing and Bank Reconciliations
\n- \n
- Accurately process financial transactions including sales invoices, purchase invoices, receipts and payments within client accounting systems. \n
- Perform regular bank reconciliations across multiple client accounts to ensure financial records align with bank statements. \n
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or missing transactions promptly. \n
Ledger Maintenance
\n- \n
- Maintain and update purchase, sales and nominal ledgers to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data. \n
- Ensure transactions are correctly coded and allocated to the appropriate accounts. \n
- Help maintain clean, well-organised accounting records for each client. \n
Month-End Close and Reconciliations
\n- \n
- Assist with the monthly close process across the client portfolio. \n
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring supporting schedules are accurate and up to date. \n
- Reconcile key control accounts — bank, VAT, payroll, prepayments and accruals — where required. \n
- Support the preparation of monthly management information by ensuring financial records are complete and accurate. \n
- Identify and investigate unusual balances or variances and escalate where appropriate. \n
Management Accounts

- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly management accounts, ensuring schedules, accruals, prepayments and journals are complete and supportable. \n
- Conduct variance analysis (vs. budget, prior period and forecast) and write clear, commercial commentary tailored to each client. \n
- Use the management accounts as a platform for advisory conversations — surfacing trends, risks and opportunities the client should act on. \n
Client Finance Function Support

- Managing client finance inboxes and monitoring incoming financial communications. \n
- Responding to queries from suppliers, staff and other client stakeholders. \n
- Processing incoming invoices, receipts and payment requests. \n
- Communicating with clients to request missing information or clarify financial transactions. \n
- Monitoring outstanding items and following up on missing documentation or approvals. \n
- Helping clients keep their financial records accurate and up to date. \n
Skills & Experience:
\nExperience and Qualifications
\n- \n
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping, assistant accountant or finance assistant role - ideally within an accountancy practice or outsourced finance environment. \n
- Experience supporting multiple clients or entities at the same time is desirable. \n
- Studying towards (or holding) an accounting qualification such as AAT or equivalent is preferred. \n
Technical Skills
\n- \n
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar. \n
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas, data organisation and reconciliation tasks. \n
- Familiarity with VAT processes, bank reconciliations and ledger maintenance. \n
- Experience with expense management systems, receipt-processing tools or document-management platforms is a bonus. \n
Organisation and Attention to Detail

- Strong attention to detail and pride in keeping financial records accurate. \n
- A knack for spotting discrepancies and resolving them efficiently. \n
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple client deadlines and priorities at once. \n
