\nWe are supporting TATA Steel with a permanent opportunity for a Mechanical Craft Team Member to join their Corby works. Corby works are undergoing substantial investment and development to drive the organisation's mission of being a sustainable steel provider.
\nThe successful applicant will hold a time served Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship and have experience within a Heavy Industrial environment.
\n\nRole: Crane Engineer
\nLocation: TATA Steel, Weldon Rd, Corby NN17 5UA
\nRate: £33,163 + 20% shift allowance = £39795.60
\nThis rises to £34,308+20% shift allowance (£41,169.60) upon successful completion of probation period
\nShifts: Days, 4 week rotating shift pattern which does include weekend working 3 weekends out of 4. (Rest days included in the week)
\nStart: ASAP but pending the successful result of a medical assessment. (This does include a drug and alcohol test)
\n\nResponsibilities:
\n- \n
- Mainly assisting in the roll stand refurbishment team, keeping the mill equipment in working order \n
- Assisting the tooling department with assigned duties \n
- Stripping down, inspecting and rebuilding roll stands \n
- Working with technical drawings to replace and/or repair parts, fitting bearings and gears \n
- Using Induction heaters and presses \n
- Assisting other teams with moving spares around site \n
- Adhering to strict Health and Safety protocols and SSOW \n
- Supporting with improvement initiatives within the department \n
Essential requirements:
\n- \n
- Time served apprenticeship and NVQ3 (Mechanical Engineering) \n
- Previous experience (2+ years) within a Heavy Industrial environment \n
- Exceptional experience with mechanical fitting which includes bearing and gear fitting \n
- Experience using induction heaters and presses \n
- The ability to conduct a physically demanding role, with no concerns around working with grease, scale and dust on a daily basis \n
- UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle \n
- Ability to be fully flexible and adhere to the shift pattern \n
- Good verbal and written communication skills \n
- Strong knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation \n
Desirable requirements:
\n- \n
- FLT experience (up to 2 tonnes) \n
- Overhead crane experience (up to 10 tonnes) \n
