Commercial Accountant – Scunthorpe - Up to £54,000 + excellent benefits We are delighted to be partnering with a forward-thinking and commercially driven organisation to recruit a Commercial Accountant for a newly enhanced role within their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to step into a high-impact, business-facing position, where you will play a key role in shaping financial insight, influencing strategic decisions, and supporting the continued growth of a diverse group of trading entities.The Opportunity Reporting to a senior finance leader, you will act as the finance lead across multiple operational businesses, providing robust financial reporting, insightful analysis, and trusted commercial guidance. This is far more than a traditional reporting role—you’ll be:\n

• Partnering with operational teams to drive profitability and performance

• Providing clear, actionable financial insight to support decision-making
\n
• Playing a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
\n
• Supporting commercial bids, pricing, and contract performance
\n
• Leading on process improvements and system enhancements
\n
• You’ll be embedded within the business, building strong relationships and ensuring finance is seen as a true value-adding partner.

Key Responsibilities\n

\n
• Deliver timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including insightful commentary and variance analysis
\n
• Partner with operational stakeholders to understand performance drivers and improve outcomes
\n
• Support strategic planning, including budgets, forecasts, and 5-year plans
\n
• Provide financial input into tenders, pricing models, and new business opportunities
\n
• Monitor contract performance, including profitability and work-in-progress
\n
• Develop and enhance financial processes, systems, and reporting
\n
• Produce cash flow forecasts and monitor financial health across the business
\n
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and commercial awareness
\n

About You We’re looking for a proactive and commercially aware finance professional who is confident working closely with non-finance stakeholders.\n

• A qualified accountant, later stages PQ or strong qualified by experience
\n
• Experienced in management accounting and financial analysis
\n
• Confident communicating financial information to a non-finance audience
\n
• Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
\n
• Highly proficient in Excel and finance systems
\n
• Experience within construction, contracting, or project-based environments would be highly advantageous.
