SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Wakefield area. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is committed to supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive both academically and personally.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents and external professionals to provide tailored support that enables pupils to succeed in a nurturing learning environment.

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
\n
• Support children with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
\n
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities
\n
• Promote positive behaviour, confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing
\n
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate
\n
• Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
\n
• Support children during lessons, breaktimes and educational activities
\n

To be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will have:

\n
• At least 6 months' experience supporting children with SEN in a school, care, youth work or similar setting
\n
• A genuine passion for enhancing the lives of children with additional needs
\n
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
\n
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
\n
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
\n
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
\n

\n
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
\n
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs
\n
• Team Teach, Makaton or relevant SEN training
\n
