Business Rates officer

Main Purpose of Job:

To deal with all aspects relating to the accurate and prompt processing of work associated with Business Rates and BID Levy from initial billing through to recovery and enforcement.

• Determine the correct liable party for Business Rates and Bid Levy in order for all required notices to be issued as soon as practicable.
\n
• Ensure eligibility to any potential reliefs and exemptions
\n
• Provide high quality professional advice, guidance and support in respect of Business Rates or Bid Levy to customers and external partners
\n
• Assist in the review of reliefs and exemptions to maximise due to the council and identify and reduce incidences of fraud.
\n
• To assist with the gathering of evidence prior to Liability Order Hearings
\n
• Accurately calculate and create refunds where overpayments have been made
\n
• Identify and prepare reports for cases considered suitable for write offs
\n
• Dealing with complex business rates matters
\n

General information:

The post holder will be required to comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

Knowledge and experience of using IT.
