Job Description
Role: Audit and Accounts Senior
\nLocation: Sunderland
\nSalary: £45,000 - £55,000
\nHours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours, based on site
\nThe role involves preparation and auditing of accounts for a variety of client types including limited companies, charities, partnerships, and sole traders. The successful candidate will work with clients from a variety of sectors including engineering, leisure and hospitality, solicitors and charities. The role requires attendance at clients’ sites across the North East.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\n- \n
- Preparation of accounts from a variety of clients' systems – Sage, Xero, QuickBooks etc. \n
- Preparation of corporation tax computations \n
- Actioning queries raised by accounts and tax managers on the accounts and working papers prepared \n
- Finalisation of the accounts following client meetings \n
- Acting as a point of contact for clients for ad hoc queries \n
- Preparation of management accounts and VAT returns \n
- Lead audit assignments, which will include planning, fieldwork and completion using standard programmes including specialist audits e.g. SAR and charities \n
- Supervise, train and mentor more junior members of staff \n
The ideal candidate will:
\n- \n
- Be ACA/ACCA/AAT qualified or finalist or be qualified by experience \n
- Ideally have a minimum of 4 years’ experience working in an accounting practice \n
- Have a strong technical knowledge and be up to date with current legislation \n
- Have good training and mentoring skills \n
- Have experience of preparation of year end accounts for owner-managed small to medium businesses including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies \n
- Have experience in statutory auditing \n
- Be able to work to tight deadlines and budgets \n
- Be driven and proactive, ensuring that our commitment to providing excellent service levels to our clients is met \n
- Have a good knowledge of accounting software packages such as Sage, QuickBooks and Xero would be advantageous \n
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal \n
- Have good organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail \n
- Be keen to take on additional responsibilities and make recommendations for business and process improvements \n
- Ideally be a driver with own car \n
In addition to the above, it would be advantageous but not essential if the successful candidate had experience of the following areas:

- Preparation of charity accounts \n
- Audit of charities \n
- Solicitors Accounts Rules \n
