A growing precision manufacturing organization serving highly regulated industries is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to lead product and process quality initiatives from new product introduction through full-scale production. This role is ideal for a hands-on quality professional who thrives in a precision machining environment and enjoys partnering closely with manufacturing, engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
Position Overview
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will own quality planning, process controls, measurement systems, statistical analysis, nonconformance management, and regulatory compliance activities. This individual will serve as the primary quality resource on the manufacturing floor, helping ensure products meet stringent customer, industry, and regulatory requirements while reducing variation and improving process capability.

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Shop Floor Quality
- Serve as the primary quality resource for machinists, assemblers, and production teams.
- Support first article inspections, production startups, process validations, and issue resolution.
- Lead daily quality reviews, root cause investigations, containment activities, and corrective actions.
- Train operators on inspection methods, SPC interpretation, measurement techniques, and quality procedures.
- Develop and maintain Control Plans, Inspection Plans, PFMEAs, and related quality documentation.
- Support APQP, PPAP, and First Article Inspection (AS9102) activities.
- Translate GD&T requirements into effective inspection and measurement strategies.
- Drive traceability and quality requirements from customer specifications through production and final acceptance.
- Support advanced inspection technologies including CMMs, vision systems, laser scanning, and surface metrology equipment.
- Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Gage R&R studies, and capability assessments.
- Maintain calibration programs and measurement system compliance.
- Establish and maintain SPC programs for critical product characteristics.
- Conduct capability studies and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Lead root cause analysis, NCR/MRB activities, CAPA programs, and corrective action effectiveness verification.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DOE, Kaizen, and mistake-proofing initiatives.
- Support customer audits, source inspections, complaint investigations, and quality reviews.
- Maintain compliance with applicable quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure audit readiness and adherence to customer, industry, and internal quality standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Materials Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of quality engineering experience within a precision machining or advanced manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting tight-tolerance CNC machining operations, including milling, turning, EDM, grinding, or similar processes.
- Strong knowledge of:
- GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- SPC and capability studies
- MSA and Gage R&R
- PFMEA and Control Plans
- NCR, MRB, CAPA, and 8D methodologies
- PPAP and First Article Inspection processes
- Proficiency with statistical analysis software such as Minitab.
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments such as aerospace, medical device, defense, or similar industries.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
- Internal auditing experience within AS9100 and/or ISO 13485 environments.
- Experience with electronic QMS platforms and ERP-integrated quality systems.
- Familiarity with Nadcap-controlled processes and supplier quality programs.
- Experience supporting medical device, aerospace, or other highly regulated production environments.
- Base salary: $85,000 - $110,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
