Our organization is currently in search of a full-time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner who possesses extensive knowledge in perinatal and neonatal health to become a part of our dedicated team in Dubuque, Iowa.

The appointed Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will be tasked with the assessment, evaluation, and treatment of neonates under the guidance of pediatricians.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Acting as the mid-level provider for newborn patients by:
- Assessing, planning, and evaluating medical care under the supervision of the attending pediatrician.
- Providing accurate and concise reports to the attending pediatrician and maintaining problem-oriented documentation.
- Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and plain x-ray films as necessary.
- Issuing appropriate orders for medications, IV therapy, parental nutrition, blood products, and for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Attending high-risk deliveries, performing resuscitation, and stabilizing patients.
- Preparing infants for transport to facilities that offer a higher level of care.
- Providing newborn care, resuscitation, and stabilization for all required deliveries.
- Consulting with administrative, nursing, and medical staff as needed.
- Engaging in ongoing competency assessment programs to maintain advanced neonatal knowledge and skills among nursing staff.
- Participating in nursing education and continuous competency evaluations.
- Pursuing self-development through readings, lectures, and formal educational opportunities.
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and the development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures in the Birth Center as appropriate.
- Completion of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program.
- Possession of an unrestricted State of Iowa License.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
- Ability to work independently, as only one NNP will be scheduled per shift, covering the level II NICU, nursery rounds, attending deliveries, and performing circumcisions.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
- Strong clinical knowledge, competencies, and analytical skills necessary for formulating nursing and medical interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare personnel.
