OB-GYN Physician - Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort Stewart

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Physician OB-GYN to join our team as an independent contractor at our community hospital located in Fort Stewart, GA. Our facility, with a capacity of 112 beds, offers both primary and specialized medical care to a diverse patient population exceeding 70,000 individuals. In this role, you will be essential in promoting the health and well-being of women throughout various stages of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather comprehensive medical histories and conduct thorough physical examinations.
• Assess the need for laboratory and radiology tests, order them as necessary, and interpret the results to establish diagnoses and prognoses.
• Initiate appropriate treatment plans, therapies, and follow-up care, providing clear instructions regarding medications and limitations.
• Respond to "Code Blue" emergencies within the hospital, delivering resuscitation efforts until specialized medical personnel arrive. If resuscitation is unsuccessful, you will be responsible for pronouncing the patient deceased, completing required documentation, and informing next-of-kin present.
• Offer medical consultations to Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinical staff, adhering to the latest standards of care.
• Ensure timely documentation of surgical inpatient services and maintain medical records in compliance with established regulations, addressing any deficiencies noted during peer reviews.
• Remain available in the clinic throughout your scheduled shifts, except when responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical institution in the U.S. or Canada, along with successful completion of postgraduate training.
• A valid and unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth.
• At least one year of OB-GYN experience within the past two years, functioning as a full-scope obstetrics and gynecology physician.
• Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
• A current and valid registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) from the American Heart Association.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Work Schedule

The position entails 14 clinic days, which include 1-3 operating room days. The primary on-call responsibilities consist of:

• One weekend (two 12-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday).
• Two weeknight shifts.
• Primary calls for labor and delivery and emergency/other consultations, along with backup day calls.
• Backup beeper calls that align with the primary call schedule.

Providers will enjoy 11 days off, including most weekends. Secondary on-call (beeper) duties occur after hours and on weekends, rotating with other clinical staff, with a required response time of 30 minutes.
