Established in 1942, this military installation spans 340 square miles and serves as the Army's premier site for training and deploying heavy forces.

Covering 214,968 acres, Fort Cavazos is currently the largest active-duty armored post within the U.S. Armed Forces and the only location in the country capable of stationing and training two Armored Divisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and technical guidance to the staff at the MEB Outpatient Clinic.
• Conduct thorough reviews of medical records, interpret diagnostic tests and x-rays, and utilize sound clinical judgment to arrange for consultations with other medical specialists.
• Compose detailed narrative summaries incorporating insights and opinions from consultants as necessary.
• Evaluate community and patient needs, mission objectives, and available resources to plan and deliver a comprehensive range of outpatient and inpatient services.
• Collaborate with other healthcare providers (such as family practitioners and general psychiatrists) to assess and reconcile conflicting medical evidence in complex and challenging cases.

Conditions of Employment

• Appointment may require a suitability or fitness assessment based on a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is mandatory.
• Selected candidates may need to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or provide an accepted exemption.
• This role is classified as a Testing Designated Position, necessitating pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Candidates must agree to participate in random drug urinalysis.
• A pre-placement medical examination may be necessary.
• Immunization screening could be required. Hepatitis B vaccination is mandatory for all roles involving direct patient interaction. Proof of other immunizations may be requested based on the specific position.
• Maintaining current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through recognized organizations may be required. Advanced certifications (e.g., ALS) do not replace BLS.
• A valid stateside driver’s license may be necessary.
• Candidates must meet credentialing requirements and secure appropriate clinical privileges.
• This position may necessitate tuberculosis testing.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Basic Requirements for Supervisory Physician (Medical Evaluation Board):

Degree: A Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited institution in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by recognized bodies such as the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. A foreign medical degree must demonstrate equivalency to accredited U.S. schools, evidenced by permanent certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

Licensure: Candidates must hold a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.

Graduate Training: Following the attainment of a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited facility.

In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must also meet the following qualifications:

Experience/Training: A minimum of five years of graduate training in the relevant specialty or equivalent experience and training is required.

A salary quote will not be provided at the time of the initial job offer. The salary determination process will commence after the initial offer is accepted, involving the Activity Compensation Panel to establish base pay and market pay for your starting salary, which will be communicated once approved.

Physician salaries are based on a tiered scale, influenced by specialty, grade, and location. This announcement may be utilized to fill positions across the following tiers:

• Tier 1: $121,020 - $300,000
• Tier 2: $145,000 - $320,000
• Tier 3: $165,000 - $336,000
