Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Excavator Operator for underground utility and water/wastewater plant construction projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can safely operate heavy equipment while leading a pipe crew and ensuring quality installation of underground utilities.
\nResponsibilities
\n- \n
- Operate large excavators, including John Deere 470 models, for utility installation, trenching, excavation, and backfilling \n
- Install 8"–32" ductile iron and PVC pipe using Mega-Lug, bell & spigot, and mechanical joint systems \n
- Perform utility installation in water and wastewater treatment plants and other underground utility projects \n
- Set and work safely around trench boxes, slide rail systems, and shoring \n
- Read blueprints, grade stakes, and laser levels to maintain proper line and grade \n
- Lead and coordinate a pipe crew to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specifications \n
- Verify proper pipe bedding, alignment, joint assembly, and compaction \n
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintain a safe, organized jobsite \n
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures \n
Qualifications
\n- \n
- 5+ years of experience operating excavators in underground utility construction \n
- Extensive experience laying ductile iron and PVC pipe \n
- Experience with plant work, trenching, and shoring systems \n
- Knowledge of Mega-Lug, bell & spigot, and mechanical coupling installations \n
- Victaulic grooved piping experience is a plus \n
- Ability to read construction plans, grade stakes, and operate laser levels \n
- Experience supervising or leading a pipe crew preferred \n
- OSHA-10 certification required \n
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred \n

Job Details:

- Schedule: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM \n
- Per Diem: 7 days/week \n
