Position Overview:

This role involves providing expert nursing care in the surgical environment for patients undergoing various surgical or invasive procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute scrub duties, which include selecting and managing instruments and supplies utilized during procedures.
• Carry out circulating responsibilities, such as monitoring, documenting, and communicating patient status while overseeing comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms along with surgical instruments and equipment for use.
• Implement evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge in nursing to ensure care is tailored to the specific age and clinical needs of patients, as outlined in the department's Scope of Service.
• As a nurse, uphold the professional standards established in the nursing practice model, utilizing the ANA Code of Ethics to address the evolving health and nursing needs of patients.
• Maintain a state of alertness and safety at all times.
• Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:Education:

• Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program or possess equivalent educational qualifications for licensing.

Experience:

• No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly use speech for effective oral communication.
• Consistently stand and walk.
• Frequently lift, carry, and push/pull items weighing between 0-25 lbs.
• Engage in frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
• Utilize vision and depth perception for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, as well as to identify and differentiate colors.
• Employ the sense of smell to recognize various odors.
• Use hearing to receive verbal communication and detect body sounds or alarms.
• Occasionally lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasionally assist in moving patients.
• Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and perform repetitive movements with feet/legs and hands/arms.
• Occasionally drive.
• Rarely crawl or run.

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)

For Missouri:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
• Or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State

For Oklahoma:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State
• Or Registered Nurse (RN) - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN)

For Wisconsin:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State
• Or Registered Nurse (RN) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
