Position Overview:
This role involves providing expert nursing care in the surgical environment for patients undergoing various surgical or invasive procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Execute scrub duties, which include selecting and managing instruments and supplies utilized during procedures.
- Carry out circulating responsibilities, such as monitoring, documenting, and communicating patient status while overseeing comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
- Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
- Prepare operating rooms along with surgical instruments and equipment for use.
- Implement evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge in nursing to ensure care is tailored to the specific age and clinical needs of patients, as outlined in the department's Scope of Service.
- As a nurse, uphold the professional standards established in the nursing practice model, utilizing the ANA Code of Ethics to address the evolving health and nursing needs of patients.
- Maintain a state of alertness and safety at all times.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
- Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program or possess equivalent educational qualifications for licensing.
- No prior experience is necessary.
- Regularly use speech for effective oral communication.
- Consistently stand and walk.
- Frequently lift, carry, and push/pull items weighing between 0-25 lbs.
- Engage in frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
- Utilize vision and depth perception for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, as well as to identify and differentiate colors.
- Employ the sense of smell to recognize various odors.
- Use hearing to receive verbal communication and detect body sounds or alarms.
- Occasionally lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasionally assist in moving patients.
- Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and perform repetitive movements with feet/legs and hands/arms.
- Occasionally drive.
- Rarely crawl or run.
