System Optimisation Engineer

As a System Optimisation Engineer, you'll play a vital role in helping us provide a safe and reliable water supply to more than 16 million customers. Working within our System Optimisation Team, you'll use your technical knowledge to optimise the performance of our clean water network, support major operational and engineering decisions, and help us deliver an excellent service for our customers. Every day is different, whether you're responding to operational incidents, analysing network performance or developing long-term strategies to improve resilience across our water system.Please note, this is a fixed-term contract for up to 10 months.What you'll be doing as a System Optimisation EngineerAs a System Optimisation Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing a geographical area of our clean water network, ensuring it operates safely, efficiently and within regulatory requirements. Working closely with colleagues across Operations, Engineering, Leakage and our Water Control Centre, you'll use your technical expertise to keep our network performing at its best.\n

• Monitor, investigate and resolve network performance issues, including customer low pressure events and emerging operational risks.
\n
• Lead the technical response during operational incidents and emergency events to minimise customer impact.
\n
• Provide technical operational input into engineering projects and planned activities across the network.
\n
• Complete and review risk assessments for work affecting the clean water network.
\n
• Develop operating strategies that balance customer service, leakage reduction and network resilience.
\n
• Analyse operational data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
\n

Base location: Stroud Green Depot, Primrose Lane, Croydon CR0 8YY. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of three days per week in the office.Working hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You can work either 9:00 am to 5:00 pm or 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.What you should bring to the role\n

• A strong understanding of hydraulic principles and clean water network operations.
\n
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions.
\n
• A degree in Engineering or another relevant technical discipline and background within the water or utilities industry would be advantageous
\n
• Knowledge of water industry regulatory requirements would be highly beneficial.
\n
