Financial Controller

This is a broad role suited to someone who enjoys working in an SME environment, is comfortable operating both strategically and in the detail, and wants to play a visible role in a commercially focused business.

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs
\n
• Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
\n
• Balance sheet control and reconciliations
\n
• Oversight of sales ledger, purchase ledger and banking processes
\n
• Monitoring working capital, debtors and creditors
\n
• Stock / inventory reporting and margin analysis
\n
• VAT, PAYE and wider statutory / compliance responsibilities
\n
• Year-end support and liaison with external accountants / auditors
\n
• Development of financial controls, reporting processes and systems
\n
• Business partnering with the wider management team
\n
• Supporting and developing a small finance team
\n

The business is looking for an experienced finance professional who is comfortable taking ownership of a broad finance remit within a fast-moving SME environment.

You are likely to have:

\n
• Experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance role
\n
• Strong management accounts, budgeting and cash flow forecasting experience
\n
• Good understanding of financial controls, compliance and reporting
\n
• A hands-on approach and willingness to work across both operational and strategic finance
\n
• Strong Excel and finance systems skills
\n
• Experience in a stock-led, retail, wholesale, e-commerce or product-based business would be highly beneficial
\n
• Sage experience would be advantageous
\n
