About the Role\nWe are seeking an organised and proactive Conveyancing Secretary or Paralegal to join our clients busy residential property team in Southend-on-Sea. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal support professional to work within a friendly and established firm, assisting fee earners with a varied caseload of residential conveyancing matters.
\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring transactions progress smoothly while delivering a high standard of client care.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Providing administrative and legal support to conveyancing fee earners. \n
- Preparing correspondence, contracts, transfer deeds and completion statements. \n
- Opening and closing client files in accordance with compliance procedures. \n
- Managing client onboarding, including ID verification and AML checks. \n
- Ordering searches and reviewing search results. \n
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders and solicitors. \n
- Managing diaries, appointments and key transaction dates. \n
- Preparing SDLT returns and Land Registry applications. \n
- Handling telephone enquiries and providing regular updates to clients. \n
- Maintaining accurate case management records. \n
- Assisting with exchange and completion processes. \n
- Supporting fee earners with post-completion matters where required. \n
Essential:
\n- \n
- Previous experience working within residential conveyancing. \n
- Experience as either a Conveyancing Secretary, Legal Assistant or Conveyancing Paralegal. \n
- Excellent organisational and time management skills. \n
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. \n
- Ability to manage multiple matters and prioritise workloads effectively. \n
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail. \n
- Confident using Microsoft Office and legal case management systems. \n
- Professional and client-focused approach. \n
Desirable:
\n- \n
- Knowledge of the conveyancing process from instruction through to post-completion. \n
- Experience preparing SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications. \n
- Ability to work with minimal supervision. \n
- Legal qualifications (CILEx, LPC or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential. \n

- Salary up to £30,000, depending on experience. \n
