Placement Duty Manager – Children’s Commissioning & Placements 📍 Location: Birmingham, West Midlands 💷 Pay Rate: £28.70 per hour (Umbrella) 🕒 Contract: Temporary | Full-Time | Immediate Start Are you an experienced Children’s Services professional with knowledge of placements, commissioning or brokerage? We are seeking a Placement Duty Manager to support Birmingham’s Children’s Commissioning & Placement Service during a busy period. This role provides operational support to the placement team, working closely with Social Work colleagues to help secure suitable placements for children and young people across fostering, supported accommodation and residential settings. The Role You will act as a key point of contact for the Placement Service team, providing day-to-day guidance, quality assurance and support with complex placement decisions. This role focuses on ensuring effective placement matching, prioritising workloads and supporting staff with live case discussions. Key Responsibilities * Quality assure placement referrals and support effective placement matching. * Provide advice and guidance to staff on placement options and pathways. * Work closely with social workers and commissioning colleagues. * Support allocation of placement searches and workload prioritisation. * Assist with complex placement discussions and problem-solving. * Contribute to quality assurance, service improvement and positive outcomes for children. About You You will have: * Experience working within Children’s Social Care, Placements, Commissioning or Brokerage. * Knowledge of fostering, residential and supported accommodation placements. * Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities. * Excellent communication and partnership-working skills. * Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced environment.
