Mechanical Plant Fitter (Batching Plant & Jetty)

Location: Sizewell, IP16Duration: 2+ yearsPay Rate: £24.14 per hour

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Heavy Plant / Mechanical Plant Fitter to inspect, maintain, and repair a wide range of heavy plant machinery (Such as Batching Plant & Jetty). The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic ability, hands-on technical experience, and confidence working independently or within a maintenance team. This role ensures plant equipment remains safe, compliant, and fully operational to support production and site efficiency.

Responsibilities

\n
• Routine servicing of heavy plant machinery.
\n
• Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
\n
• Preventive maintenance and completion of inspection documentation.
\n
• Breakdown response with efficient fault-finding and repair.
\n
• Welding and basic fabrication when required.
\n
• Maintain full HSE compliance and accurate records.
\n
• Coordinate with delivery teams and plant operations.
\n

Mandatory Qualifications:

\n
• CSCS or JIB
\n
• NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Fitter
\n
• Abrasive Wheels
\n
• Working at Heights
\n
• Manual Handling
\n
• LOTO - Electrical Safety Briefing or Isolation Procedures or Mechanical Briefing
\n
• Pre-Qualification Technical Profile (PQTP)
\n

Experience:

\n
• Ideally 5 years heavy plant maintenance (excluding apprenticeship).
\n
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
\n
• Ability to work under pressure on critical plant.
\n
• Fabrication, system amendments, and mechanical improvements.
\n
• Experience on similar large-scale projects.
\n
