Job Description
Location: Middlemarch Business Park, Coventry | Salary: up to £40,000 | Permanent, Full-TimeHybrid: 3 days on-site / 2 days WFH
\nA well-established manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Coventry is looking to recruit an experienced Buyer to join their procurement team on a permanent basis.
\nThe company designs and manufactures bespoke fabricated products and joinery solutions, supplied to clients across the UK. With a supply chain that extends across the Far East as well as domestic and European suppliers, this is a hands-on operational buying role in a business that takes procurement seriously.
\nThe Buyer Role
\nReporting to the Senior Buyer, you'll take ownership of purchasing activity across fabrication and timber/joinery categories, working closely with production, engineering, and logistics to keep supply flowing and costs controlled.
\nDay to day you'll be:

- Placing and managing purchase orders for raw materials and components, with a focus on fabricated metal and timber/joinery categories \n
- Running MRP/ERP action messages, managing open order books and monitoring supplier lead times \n
- Coordinating with Far East and European suppliers, managing delivery schedules and resolving shortages \n
- Negotiating with suppliers on price, lead time, and terms \n
- Supporting logistics and import processes including Incoterms management \n
- Working from technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate procurement \n
- Maintaining supplier performance data and reporting on key metrics \n
- Contributing to cost saving initiatives and identifying continuous improvement opportunities \n
What We're Looking For in a Buyer
\n- \n
- A background in operational buying within a manufacturing or engineering environment \n
- Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP experience is a genuine advantage) \n
- Comfortable working from technical drawings and specs \n
- Some exposure to Far East sourcing is strongly preferred; a clear appetite to develop in this area will also be considered \n
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups) \n
- Commercially sharp, well-organised, and comfortable managing a high volume of open orders \n
- Excellent communicator, able to work cross-functionally and build good supplier relationships \n
