Mechanical Maintenance Engineer\n

Location: Essex (Halstead Area)Salary: Up to £45,000 + Overtime (OTE £55,000)Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pmOvertime: Every other Saturday paid at 1.2x, occasional Sundays paid at 1.4xHoliday: 25 Days + Bank HolidaysPension: 3% Employee / 5% Employer

A well-established industrial manufacturing business is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong mechanical background who enjoys fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance within a heavy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of industrial plant and machinery.
  • \n
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
  • \n
  • Maintain and overhaul equipment including drive shafts, bearings, sprockets, chains and gearboxes.
  • \n
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on hydraulic systems, including pumps, motors, valves and hoses.
  • \n
  • Apply structured fault-finding techniques to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • \n
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability and performance.
  • \n
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently.
  • \n
Candidate RequirementsEssential\n
    \n
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • \n
  • Experience maintaining industrial machinery and plant equipment.
  • \n
  • Proven fault-finding and repair experience.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and associated components.
  • \n
  • Engineering qualification at Level 3 or equivalent (preferred).
  • \n

  • Understanding of industrial electrical systems.
  • \n
  • Experience working with three-phase motors and variable speed drives.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems.
  • \n
  • Understanding of safe isolation procedures.
  • \n
  • Basic electrical fault-finding capability.
